About FAB 5 Basketball

FAB 5 is a club basketball team located in Costa Mesa, CA.

We focus on player development and competitive tournament experience for 4th-6th graders and 7th-8th graders, with the goal of preparing them for middle school and high school basketball.

Our name, FAB 5, stands for Family, Academics, Basketball (in that order!), with a strong emphasis on Teamwork: five players working together selflessly, to achieve a common goal.

FAB 5 is one of the most quality club basketball programs I’ve seen in 10 years of coaching high school basketball. They teach and emphasize fundamentals and prepare players for success at the next level. The coaching staff is very knowledgeable about the game and what it takes to improve. They teach players how to prepare both mentally and physically, while preaching hard work and the importance of constant repetition.
— Jason Simco, Coach at Corona Del Mar High School

We practice at TeWinkle Middle School, located just south of the 405 Freeway and Harbor Blvd.

Meet the Coach

Brian Beerbower has been coaching basketball for 20 years.

He was born and raised in Huntington Beach, attending Sts. Simon and Jude, Hawes, Sowers, and Edison... and playing nearly every sport under the sun.

In high school, Brian started working for the City of Costa Mesa Parks and Recreation Department where he served for 12 years. During that time he became known throughout the community as Mr. Dude.

Brian began coaching in youth recreation basketball, transitioned to club basketball in 2002, and in 2007 began coaching at the high school level for Edison and Estancia High Schools.

Brian founded FAB 5 in 2011.

You'd be hard pressed to find a coach more passionate than Brian Beerbower. He cares tremendously for his players -- both on and off the court.
